Max Lane hit his first home run of the season with a two-run shot, but Harvard University baseball fell to Liberty University, 9-3, in the series opener on Friday afternoon at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

Opening the third weekend of its 2026 season, the Crimson (0-7) scored the game's final three runs but could not rally after the host Flames (9-3) tallied the game's first nine runs to earn their seventh straight win.

How It Happened
- Liberty opened the contest with a 5-0 lead after scoring five runs in the bottom of the first.
- The Flames extended the margin to 7-0 with a pair of runs in the last of the fourth and moved the margin to 9-0 with two more runs in the sixth.
- The Crimson countered in the top of the seventh as Lane sent a two-run homer out to left field.
- Harvard scored the game's final run in the top of the eighth with Brancel driving an RBI double to left center.Â
