COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 13 Harvard Women's Heavyweight Rowing team completed day one at the Ohio State Regatta, kicking off its spring season at Griggs Reservoir. Despite battling rainy conditions and strong winds, the Black and White delivered a strong performance across five events, highlighted by wins in the Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight, along with two narrow runner-up finishes against No. 20 Ohio State.
Racing began with the Third Varsity Eight, as Harvard-Radcliffe took on a deep field of top-ranked opponents and placed fourth with a time of 7:37.4. Building on that effort, the Second Varsity Four followed with a tightly contested race, finishing just behind Ohio State in second at 7:57.4.
The First Varsity Four then surged to Harvard-Radcliffe's first win of the day against the Buckeyes, crossing the line in 7:32.0. Carrying that momentum, the Second Varsity Eight delivered another strong performance, pulling away to secure a decisive nine-second victory over Ohio State in 6:52.4.
Closing out the day, the First Varsity Eight battled in one of the most competitive races of the afternoon, finishing just 1.5 seconds behind the Buckeyes to take second with a time of 6:37.4.
