CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seven Crimson pitchers combined to allow just three hits, but Harvard University baseball fell to Northeastern University, 4-1, in the semifinals of The Baseball Beanpot on Wednesday afternoon at O'Donnell Field.

Playing in its first true mid-week game of the season, the Crimson (5-17) did not permit a run in the fifth through ninth innings but could not stage a comeback as the Huskies (17-14) plated the game's first three runs in the top of the second and held onto the lead the rest of the way.

In the Beanpot's other semifinal, Boston College earned an 11-1 home win over Massachusetts in eight innings on Tuesday. In the final round on April 14, Harvard will meet UMass in the third-place game while Northeastern will face BC in the championship game.

- Sophomore left-hander Luca Alagheband tossed a scoreless inning in the start, striking out a pair of batters in the top of the first without giving up a hit or run.
- Junior right-hander Ryan McHugh (1.0 inning, no runs, no hits, one strikeout), first-year left-hander Brett Gable (1.1 innings, no hits, no runs, two strikeouts), and senior right-hander Jack Smith (1.2 innings, no hits, no runs) all registered scoreless outings to close out the contest.

How It Happened
- Northeastern opened the game's scoring with three runs in the top of the second behind an RBI on an infield single and two RBIs on a single through the left side.
- Kahn struck out the side in the top of the third to keep the Crimson within 3-0.
- The Crimson cut the margin to 3-1 in the bottom of the third as Rickheim sent an RBI single through the left side to plate Wilson.
- The Huskies scored the contest's final run in the top of the fourth with an RBI on an infield single to make the score 4-1.
