WORCESTER, Mass. -- No. 1 Harvard men's lightweight rowing claimed its third straight championship at the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday. The varsity eight bested Princeton by a second and a half to win the gold medal on a day where the Harvard lights finished on the podium in all three grand finals.

The varsity boat, stroked by
Ben Lundie, won its preliminary race over Princeton by nearly three seconds and later in the day held off the Tigers with a time of 5:46.779 to 5:48.295. The win marked the 24th for the Crimson all-time at Eastern Sprints.
Harvard's second varsity started behind early, but gained the lead by the midway point of its final. However, Penn and Princeton both surged to the finish, overtaking the Harvard boat as the Crimson claimed the bronze medal in a time of 5:55.579 as all three boats finished within six-tenths of a second from each other.
The third varsity went straight to the grand finals and was the first race of the afternoon session for the Harvard Lights. After a re-start, Harvard came in third to win a bronze medal in a time of 6:18.767 behind gold-medalist Princeton and silver-medalist Penn.
