Four Earn IRCA All-America Status

Forbes and Sunderland lead Harvard as first-team selections.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Four Harvard men's lightweight rowing student-athletes were named IRCA All-America as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. Seniors Alex Forbes and Kyle Sutherland led the way for the Crimson as first-team selections. Senior captain Ben Lundie earned second-team, while junior Preston Darling was an honorable mention.

All four rowed on the Harvard varsity eight that won its third-straight IRA National Championship on Lake Natoma in May. Lundie stroked the varsity to its third-consecutive undefeated season. At the IRAs, Forbes sat seven, Darling five and Sutherland was in the bow.

The All-America honor marks the second in the career's of Darling, Lundie and Sutherland. A year ago, Lundie and Darling were on the first team, while Sutherland was on the second team. This is also the second year in a row that Harvard placed four oarsmen on the All-America team.
