CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Basketball incoming first-year Preston Merrick '30 is set to compete with the Antigua and Barbuda senior men's national team at the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers from July 8-12 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana.
 
Antigua and Barbuda will compete in Group A alongside host Guyana, Dominica, Turks and Caicos, and Bermuda. Each team will face every opponent in its group once in a round-robin format. At the conclusion of the competition, the top team from each group will advance to the next round of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers, scheduled for November 2026.
 
Playing four games in five days, the Bulldogs are set to square off with Bermuda (July 8, 5:30 p.m. ET), Guyana (July 9, 8:00 p.m. ET), Dominica (July 11, 5:30 p.m. ET), and Turks and Caicos (July 12, 8:00 p.m. ET). All four games will appear live on the FIBA Basketball YouTube Channel.
 
Group B at the event includes Haiti, Grenada, Cayman Islands, Barbados, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
 
A First Team All-NEPSAC Class A and First Team All-Founders League selection at The Hotchkiss School in 2025-26, Merrick served the Bearcats as two-time captain and finished his career with over 1,000 career points. A native of Laurelton, New York, Merrick helped lead The Hotchkiss School to a NEPSAC Class A championship and Founders League title.
