CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - John Ronan and Tom Davis will join the Harvard men's hockey coaching staff, Rob Rassey, the Robert D. Ziff '88 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Ice Hockey, announced today.

Both Ronan and Davis will serve as assistant coaches as Rassey rounds out his coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. Both coaches come to Harvard from ECAC Hockey, with Ronan joining the Crimson from Union and Davis coming from Princeton.

"We are very excited to welcome John and Tom to our program," Rassey said. "They both bring tremendous hockey knowledge and ECAC experience to our staff, and we look forward to seeing how they can contribute to the development of our program and players."

Ronan completed his 12th season in Schenectady in 2025-26 after beginning his career with the Garnet Chargers during the 2013-14 season as a volunteer assistant coach, the year Union won the national championship.

In 2025-26, Ronan helped Union to a 22-12-3 record and the program's first 20-win season since 2018-19. He also helped oversee a power-play unit that scored 34 goals from 11 different players.

Ronan previously served as Union's interim head coach for the final 17 games of the 2021-22 season, guiding the team to a first-round sweep of Princeton in the ECAC Hockey Tournament.

Before returning to Union in 2016, Ronan coached at Mercyhurst and with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, helping Youngstown win the 2015 Anderson Cup Championship.

A native of South Boston, Massachusetts, Ronan played four seasons at the University of Maine from 2001-05, recording 47 points in 132 career games and serving as team captain as a senior. He later played seven seasons professionally before beginning his coaching career.

A Princeton graduate, Davis joined the Tigers' coaching staff in 2020 after previously serving as the program's Director of Hockey Operations in 2018 and 2019. Davis skated in 97 games on the blue line for the Tigers and served as an assistant captain. During his fourth year of eligibility, Davis played at Providence College, where the Friars reached the Hockey East Championship game and the NCAA East Regional final.

A native of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, Davis earned his MBA from Providence in the spring of 2019.
