NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Harvard women's volleyball picked up its seventh win of the season in a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-16, 25-20) over Merrimack on Tuesday night at the Sakowich Campus Center. The Crimson extend its unbeaten streak and continue its best start in program history.
 
How it Happened
The first set opened with a 5-0 Harvard run that featured a solo block from Ali Farquhar and two aces from Sofia Rossi. After trading points with the Warriors, the Crimson pulled ahead to an 18-5 lead with a 9-0 scoring run, during which three different players logged a kill and Bridget Egan served an ace. Merrimack picked up just five more points before a 6-0 run closed out the set at 25-10 for Harvard.
 
The momentum continued into set two as the Crimson came out with a 12-0 run off of blocks from Ryleigh Patterson, Farquhar, and Rossi, aces from Sophia Wei, and more kills from Farquhar and Rossi. The Warriors tabbed their first point on a kill, but errors from Merrimack allowed Harvard to maintain control. The Warriors logged a 4-0 scoring run, their longest of the match so far, to put the score at 23-14. Kills from Patterson and Riley Resmer secured a 25-16 set win for the Crimson. 
 
A kill from Patterson and another ace by Rossi gave Harvard a 3-0 to start the final set. Merrimack battled to keep the score within reach, tying six times until the Crimson gained a 19-16 lead. The teams traded blows but two kills from Patterson and an ace by Rossi ended the match with a 25-20 set score.
 
Harvard Highlights

• Harvard finished the match hitting .309 with 39 kills, 37 assists, 51 digs, eight aces and five blocks. The Crimson held Merrimack to a .051 hit percentage on 24 kills, 24 assists, 39 digs, six aces, and three blocks.
• Sophomore Sofia Rossi led all players with 10 kills on 25 swings, adding seven digs, four aces, and two blocks to the match.
• Junior Riley Resmer posted a match-high .750 hitting percentage with six kills on eight attacks and no errors. Resmer also tabbed three digs and one block.
• Senior Ryleigh Patterson hit over .400 for the fourth time this season, going 6-0-11 for a .545 clip in the match. Patterson added two digs and stuffed three blocks in the win.

Harvard rounds out its non-conference schedule with the Harvard Invitational, during which it will host Providence and Sacred Heart for a weekend of matches at the Malkin Athletic Center from Sept. 18-20.
