CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's tennis opened its season in strong fashion on the first day of Chowderfest, collecting seven victories across doubles and singles play.

Competing at home for the first time since last April, the Crimson set the tone early by winning three of its four doubles matches.

The nationally ranked duo of Rohan Murali and Kolos Kincses delivered a dominant start to their season, cruising past Yale's Jim Ji and Edward Liao, 6-0.

Senior captain James MacDonald and Bill Chan made the most of their first match as a doubles pairing, battling past Dartmouth's Leo Pade and Dillon Beckles in a tightly contested match. The Harvard duo won in a tiebreak, 7-6 (2).

Evan Sharygin and Zachary Cohen combined to secure the first wins of their collegiate careers, defeating Virginia Tech's Gevorg Mnatsakanyan and Thomás Brandão in a convincing 6-2 result.

In singles, Mitchell Lee and Kolos Kincses each dispatched Ivy League opponents in straight sets. Lee rolled past Pade (Dartmouth) with a pair of 6-2 sets, while Kincses completed an unbeaten opening day by defeating Dylan Tsoi (Yale), 6-2, 6-3.

Cohen and David Wu capped Harvard's four singles victories with a pair of comeback wins. After dropping their opening sets, the first-year's responded in impression fashion, rallying past their respective Dartmouth opponents for their first collegiate singles victories.
