PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard women's volleyball's Kayla Nwabueze was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. This is the first award of her young career.
A Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native, Nwabueze helped power Harvard past Merrimack, Providence, and Sacred Heart in three straight sweeps last week to round out non-conference play. She hit .292 across all matches, totaling 23 kills, 2.6 kills per set, 12 digs, four blocks, and two aces in the wins.
Nwabueze and the Crimson are off to the best start in program history, going undefeated through the first nine games of the season. Harvard opens its Ivy League schedule by hosting Dartmouth at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Malkin Athletic Center. The match will be streamed on ESPN+
