Sharad Vivek Sagar is a master’s degree candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where he serves as the President of the Student Government. Sagar was the first Indian student in Harvard history to be elected President of HGSE. Sagar first went to school at the age of 12 and founded Dexterity Global, an internationally awarded non-profit, at the age of 16. For his work and vision, Sagar was featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 list and the Rockefeller Foundation 100 Next Century Innovators list. Sagar’s focus on building grassroots leadership through educational opportunities and training has received global recognition, including invitations to the Obama White House and the Nobel Prize Ceremony.
Sagar is a passionate hockey fan and got involved in the sport as an undergraduate student at Tufts. Sagar received a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Tufts University where he studied on a full scholarship and served as the Team Manager of the Hockey Team. As a graduating senior, Sagar was chosen the Senior Commencement Speaker and received the Senior Award for academic achievement, Presidential Award for public service and the Wendell Phillips Award for oratory and leadership. Sagar was awarded the university's Alumni Achievement Award, one year after graduation, and remains the youngest recipient of the award in university history.
Sagar considers serving as the Team Manager of Harvard Hockey a vital part of his Harvard experience and an important part of his education.
