Will Sorenson ’23 joined the Harvard Men's Volleyball staff in Dec. 2025 as an assistant coach. A former Crimson team captain, standout setter, and accomplished engineer, Sorenson returned to Harvard with a proven record of leadership, academic excellence, and technical expertise. The 2026-27 campaign marks his second in Cambridge.
In his first season along the sideline, Sorenson helped three players capture All-EIVA honors in Owen Woolbert, Brian Thomas and Thomas Phung. Woolbert was a second-team choice, while Thomas and Phung earned honorable mention accolades.
Sorenson graduated from Harvard with an S.B. in Mechanical Engineering and quickly became a cornerstone of the Crimson lineup during his undergraduate career. A three-time All-EIVA Academic Team honoree, he excelled as both a setter and serving specialist, helping guide the program with his precision, consistency, and court vision. Sorenson also served as team captain in 2023, earned a Director’s Award nomination, and broke two Guinness World Records through a collaborative effort with Harvard Athletics.
In June 2023, Sorenson was admitted to the highly selective Harvard Business School 2+2 deferred enrollment program. After graduation, he relocated to El Segundo, Calif., where he joined Boeing as an Electronic Packaging and Analysis Engineer. During his two years with the company, he designed computer systems for satellite applications, bringing the same analytical rigor and problem-solving approach that defined his collegiate career.
While contributing to the men's volleyball program, Sorenson is also studying at Harvard Business School. The 2026-27 academic year will be his second at HBS.
