WendyWilbur, in her third season as the Black and White's coachingassistant since 2011-12, works with the third varsityeight.
Wilburpreviously served as the novice and assistant varsity coach forBoston College. During her four seasons at BC, she coordinatedrecruiting and successfully brought a number of walk-on andexperienced freshman athletes up to the varsity level in theirnovice year. She also led the Eagles to some of their highestfinishes in both the ACC Championships and Eastern Sprints andhelped the program move into the new Harry ParkerBoathouse.
Shehas also worked with the USRowing Under 23 Development Camp inBoston for the last three years and has helped develop and coachthe Junior B Sculling Camp at Saratoga Rowing Association. Wilburhas also coached at the high school level, working the CharlesRiver Rowing Camps and the Northeast Rowing Camps for several yearsrunning.
Priorto her coaching career, Wilbur trained with the U.S. National Teambetween 1997 and 2004. She won gold at the 2003 WorldChampionships, rowing in the four alongside Radcliffe Alum CarynDavies '05. She finished with a silver medal in the eight at theWorld Championships in 1998 and a bronze medal in the four at theWorld Championships a year later. In addition to these medals,Wilbur finished sixth in 1997 in the eight, fifth in 2000 in thefourth, fourth in 2001 in the eight and fifth in 2002 in the four,all at World Championships regattas.
Wilburhas won the Head of the Charles twice, in the championship doublein 1999, and in the championship eight in 2001. She has alsocompeted many times in the C.R.A.S.H.-B. Sprints World IndoorRowing Championships, finishing sixth in 1996 and fourth in 1997 inthe international open women's final.
Wilburattended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where shecompeted in the inaugural NCAA Championships in 1997, finishingsecond. She double-majored in communication and sociology and wenton to earn a master's degree in labor studies from UMass. She iscurrently working on a master's in administrative studies at BostonCollege.
