Reg Schonborn, who serves as Harvard's recruitingcoordinator, joined the Crimson coaching staff in the springof 2011 after spending the five previous years coaching at his almamater, Trinity. Schonborn, who was integral in the recruiting,training and fundraising with the Bantams, brings a wealth ofsquash experience to Cambridge.
In two seasons with the Crimson, Schonborn has helped Harvardwin a pair of team national championships, two Ivy League titlesand three individual national titles. He has also coached a totalof nine All-Americans, including five first-team selections, fourIvy League Players of the Year, two Ivy League Rookies of the Yearand six All-Ivy picks.
Schonborn joined the Trinity College women's squash and tenniscoaching staffs as a graduate assistant in 2006. In 2008, hewas named assistant coach for the men's squash and tennis programsat Trinity. A 2006 graduate, Schonborn was a captain, a three-timeAll-American, and a two-time Most Valuable Player for theBantams squash team. In 2005, Schonborn was honored with theSkillman Award for sportsmanship in intercollegiate squash.
Schonborn, who has maintained an international squash rankingsince 2004 (reaching as high as No. 82 in the world), won fournational championships as a player with the squashteam at Trinity, and won an additional four as a coach on theBantams staff. His extensive coaching resume includes theEuropean Squash Academy, the International Squash Academy, theGreenwich Academy Squash Camp, and the Above the Tin SquashCamp.
As a student at Trinity, Schonborn was a resident assistant andworked for the development office. In 2006, he was recognizedwith the Edwin P. Nye Award in engineering for understanding thebalance between man’s technology and the environment.
Schonborn earned a bachelor’s in engineering from Trinitywith a concentration in electrical, and a master’s inmanagement from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2006.
