Maddy Carpe enters her second season as an assistant coach for Harvard softball after joining the Crimson in Sept. 2023.
Carpe played a major role in the Crimson's march to the 2024 Ivy League regular season title, aiding Harvard to outstanding offensive production throughout the campaign. Harvard led the Ivy League in batting average (.313), runs (233), slugging percentage (.443), and on-base percentage (.388) under Carpe's direction. The 2024 season also saw six Crimson hitters earn All-Ivy League honors, as Sophie Sun and Priyanka Kaul also garnered NFCA All-Region status.
Carpe lands with the Crimson after a four-year career on the Boston College Softball team, where she served as a team captain her senior year. She received the Eagle Award from Boston College, an award that embodies the mission of Boston College: to learn, search for truth, and to live in service of others. She was also awarded the Welles Crowther Patch, an award that recognizes a player from each team who represents the BC motto "Men and Women for others."
Carpe's previous coaching experience includes time in August 2022 as a SixFour3 ACC Clinic Coach, where she led three clinics that included fast-paced drills and a Q&A on the best approach towards the recruiting process for aspiring softball players. With personal, one-on-one instruction, she exposed young players to the techniques that will bring about the most success in their respective position.
From 2016-21, she served as a catching coach for the Ashburn Shooting Stars in Ashburn, Va. where she conducted seasonal position training for various catchers with basic catching fundamentals, conditioning, and instruction on being a successful catcher and team player through a personalized program.
In her time on the field, Carpe was a catcher for the Eagles. Her senior year she threw out 13 runners stealing and recorded 22 hits on four doubles, two triples and three home runs to go along with 11 RBIs.
