Erik Farrar

Erik Farrar, who has spent more than 20 seasons in thecollegiate coaching ranks, enters his sixth season as the headcoach of both the men's and women's water polo teams in 2009-10.

During the 2008 season, the Harvard men's team placed sixth atthe Northern Division Championship and senior co-captain David Tunewas honored on the All-Northern Division team.  The Crimsonalso succeeded outside of the pool, as 15 players were selected tothe CWPA All-Academic team and 10 were placed on the ACWPCAll-Academic squad.  The women also have a successful campaignin 2009, as the team earned seventh at the Eastern Championship,its best finish since 2005.  Devan Kennifer was tabbed theNorthern Division Rookie of the Year, earned a spot on theAll-Northern Division first team and was named the Rookie of theTournament at Easterns.  Classmate Monica Zdrojewski was alsohonored on the All-Northern Division team, garnering a second-teamselection.

In 2007, the Crimson men finished fourth at the EasternChampionships, and three players (Jay Connolly, Chris Ludwick andBret Voith) were selected to the All-Northern Division team. The 2008 women's team placed four players (Vivian Liao, DevonMacLaughlin, Nicola Perlman and Lauren Snyder) on the All-NorthernDivision Team.

Farrar has registered a longstanding record of success as a headcoach, most notably as the head coach of the men's and women'sprograms at Brown.

Farrar served as the Bears' women's coach on two occasions, from1985-87 and 1993-97. He led the squad to Collegiate Water PoloAssociation Northern Division titles in 1995 and 1996. The Bearsfinished the 1995 season ranked No. 12 in the nation, whileFarrar's 1996 squad ended the year ranked No. 11. He had a 66-30record as the squad's varsity head coach.

Farrar oversaw Brown's men's program from 1994-98 and amassed an87-46 record. He helped the Bears to three national top-20 finishesin his five years and led the Bears to third-place finishes at theCWPA Eastern Championships in 1994, 1996, and 1997.

He was named the EWPA women's Coach of the Year in 1994 and wasthe CWPA women's Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996.

Farrar spent the 2004 season as an assistant with Brown'swomen's program and was head coach of UMass Dartmouth's women'sclub program in 2003. He also spent seven years as an assistantwith Brown's men's program.

Farrar is a 1985 graduate of Brown and was a four-year member ofthe Bears' water polo program.
