Dwayne Wilmot

Dwayne Wilmot joined the Harvard coaching staff in February,2011 and serves as the program’s defensive line coach. Wilmotis responsible for recruiting in Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.

Wilmot came to Harvard after spending five seasons at theUniversity of Maine as a defensive line coach and recruitingcoordinator. He was responsible for the defense’s run-gamescheme and opponent pass protections.

At Maine, Wilmot’s 2006 defense led the nation in rushingdefense and he coached a number of defensive stars includingdefensive end Jovan Belcher, who was a Colonial AthleticAssociation Defensive Player of the Year, a finalist for the BuckBuchanan Award as the nation’s best lineman and a first-teamAll-America selection in five different publications.

Among the other notable players under Wilmot’s mentorshipwere defensive tackle Jonathan Pirruccello (NFF Hampshire HonorSociety and ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District I firstteam), defensive tackle Matt King (Buck Buchanan finalist, firstteam All-American), defensive end Mike DeVito (first teamAll-CAA).

Wilmot has coached three players who have been signed as rookiefree agents by NFL teams (DeVito and King in 2007 with the New YorkJets; Jovan Belcher in 2009 with the Kansas City Chiefs).

Prior to his time at Maine, Wilmot spent three seasons asthe recruiting coordinator and assistant defensive coach atTennessee-Martin.

A 2001 graduate of Maine with a degree in broadcast journalism,Wilmot was a team captain as a senior and left the program amongits top 10 players in receptions and receiving yards. He was signedby the Indianapolis Colts and later played in the Arena Football2League with the Charleston Swamp Foxes, leading the team with 80receptions, 1,100 yards and 20 touchdowns.
