Erik Bartelsonjoins the Harvard cross country and track and field staff for the2008-09 season as the volunteer director of operations.

Bartelson comes toCambridge to fulfill requirements to receive his master’sdegree in sports administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He will work in the Harvard ticket office during theyear as well.

 

Bartelson served as anassistant coach at Wisconsin – La Crosse in 2007-08. Heassisted the head coach in scheduling meets, travel,accommodations, managing home meets, workouts and statistics. TheEagles won the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Fieldchampionship in 2007, the indoor title in 2008 and finished as theindoor runner-ups in 2007. The cross country squad was fifth at theNCAA Division III Championships in 2007.

 

Bartelson, who was also the head coach at Sparta High School in2007, was a seven-time letterwinner at Wisconsin –Platteville. He was a national qualifier in cross country in 2006and captained the team for three seasons. He was a first-teamall-conference recipient in outdoor track and field in 2005. Hecaptained that squad as a senior.
