Gavin Grant, a former national collegiate medalist andboys’ varsity coach at Noble and Greenough School, enters hissecond season as an assistant coach of the Harvard heavyweight crewin 2012-13.

Grant coached the boys’ rowing team at Nobles from2008-10. He led the team to a gold medal at the 2009 USRowing YouthNational Championships and a bronze medal a year earlier.

Before coming to Boston, Grant worked full-time as a member ofthe logistics team for the National Outdoor Leadership School atits Teton Valley base in Driggs, Idaho. He was responsible foroutfitting, rationing and route-planning for multi-day wildernessexpeditions throughout the inter-mountain west, as well as dailybackcountry skiing to scout the terrain.

A 2003 graduate of the University of Washington, Grant strokedthe UW freshman eight to a runner-up finish in the 2000Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships. A yearlater, he earned an IRA silver medal as part of the Huskies’second varsity eight.
