Kristaps Aldins

Kristaps Aldins enters his third season at Harvard in 2011-12after completing four seasons on the bench at nearby MassachusettsInstitute of Technology (MIT).

Aldins will also server as the head coach of the LatvianNational Team for the 2011 European Qualifiers.

At MIT, Aldins worked with the Engineers' pitchers, catchers,and outfielders. Aldins was also responsible for all facets of anationwide recruiting process.

During his stint at MIT, the team compiled an overall record of82-63 with a NEWMAC Championship Game appearance and program-record25 wins in 2009. In 2006 the Engineers advanced to the NEWMAC titlegame for the first time in program history and earned a bid to theECAC Tournament.

During the summers of 2008 and 2009, Aldins coached for theNorth Shore Navigators of the New England Collegiate BaseballLeague (NECBL). The NECBL, which currently has 25 of its alumni onMajor League Baseball rosters, is home to some of the nation's topcollegiate baseball talent. In addition to his coachingresponsibilities, Aldins is an instructor at several top camps andclinics around the country.

The 2005 Liberty League Baseball Player of the Year, Aldins wasa member of the winningest class in Vassar College history. Hecurrently holds seven offensive school seasonal records includingbatting average (.444), runs (40), RBI's (45), and doubles (18) aswell as the Brewers' career record for doubles (33).

While at Vassar, he was a four-year starter in the outfield andalso served as a senior co-captain, cleanup hitter and startingpitcher. As a senior, he ranked 16th nationally in batting average,21st in doubles, and 27th in toughest to strike out. For hisefforts, Aldins was a nominee for NCAA All-America honors, earnedABCA/Rawlings New York State All-Region First Team status, and wasalso named an ECAC Upstate All-Star.

Aldins is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association(ABCA) and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association(NEIBA). He graduated from Vassar College in 2005 with a doublemajor in History and Russian Studies and was named Liberty LeagueAcademic All-Conference three consecutive years.

Aldins is working toward a Masters of Sports Leadership degreeat Northeastern University.
