Ron DiGravio

Ron DiGravio is in his third season as a defensive line coachingassistant for Harvard in 2014.

Last season, the defensive line helped Harvard claim its 15thIvy League title. The squad made up the nation's sixth-best rushingdefense (97.3 yards allowed per game) while the Crimson's scoringdefense cam in at 25th allowing just 22.7 points per game. Harvardrecovered 13 fumbles to tie for 15th nationally and lead theAncient Eight while Zach Hodges and Norman Hayes landed in thenation's top-16 for forced fumblesSeven Crimson linemen earnedAll-Ivy honors including Hodges, who was the recipient of the AsaC. Bushnell Cup, and Joshua Boy, a unanimous first-teamselection.

In DiGravio's first season, the group helped Harvard leadthe nation in rushing defense (69.4 yards allowed per game) andsacks (4.2 per game). Defensive ends Zach Hodges and John Lyon’13 ranked among the nation’s top 20 in sacks per game,and three linemen earned All-Ivy honors.

DiGravio came to Harvard after spending three seasons as therunning backs and wide receivers coach at the University of NewHaven.

In 2011, New Haven earned top spot in the ECAC’s LambertMeadowlands Division Poll, signifying Eastern supremacy in theDivision II football ranks. The Chargers went 11-2 overall, winningthe Northeast-10 Conference and earning a national ranking of No. 5while advancing to the national quarterfinals. 

In 2010, DiGravio helped coach one of the NE-10’s bestrushing offenses and New Haven Gridiron Club Offensive Player ofthe Year Victor Jones.

DiGravio came to the University of New Haven after coaching oneseason at King’s College (Pa.), where he coached thelinebackers.

A 2008 graduate of Bates College with a degree in AmericanStudies, DiGravio was a four-year letterman, playing running backand linebacker. As a freshman, he rushed for a team-high 471 yardsin eight games before moving to linebacker as a sophomore. There,he totaled 169 tackles in three seasons. In 2006, he was theBobcats’ leading tackler and was presented with the Robert P.Schmidy Courage Award.

DiGravio earned a master’s degree in business administrationfrom New Haven in 2010.
