CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Taylor Docter
lead the Crimson with 14 kills and sophomore Anne Carroll Ingersoll
posted 12 kills and eight blocks to lead the Harvard women's
volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Princeton Friday night at the
Malkin Athletic Center. The 25-23, 19-25, 16-25, 25-16, 16-14,
victory for the Crimson (7-9, 3-2 Ivy) was the first win over the
Tigers (3-12, 1-3 Ivy) since Oct. 26, 2002.
Sophomore Sandra Lynne Fryhofer joined Docter and Ingersoll in
double-digit kills, while senior co-captain Chelsea Ono Horn and
junior Mikaelle Comrie added nine apiece. Senior Lily Durwood
registered 47 assists and surpassed the 3,000 career assist mark,
only the third Crimson to accomplish that feat. Sophomore Christine
Wu led all players with 34 digs.
The Crimson recorded a season-high 13 blocks in the match, while
the Tigers had just two. The Tigers held the advantage in kills,
66-55, and digs, 99-98. Harvard's 98 digs were also a season
best.
Harvard hosts Penn tomorrow at 4 p.m. The Quakers are 4-0 in the
league after a 3-1 victory in Hanover, N.H., tonight.
