Series History
Saturday's game will be the 14th meeting between Harvard
and Lafayette in a series that dates to 1966. The Crimson holds a
11-2 lead in the rivalry and has won the last eight games between
the schools.
Harvard has not lost to Lafayette at home since 1996, winning
four straight with a 7-1 record all-time at Harvard Stadium.
Last Year's Meeting
Running backs Cheng Ho and Gino Gordon both scored
first-half touchdowns as Harvard jumped out to an early lead and
topped Lafayette, 27-13, in Easton, Pa. last year.
Ho rushed for 108 yards and Chris Pizzotti '08-09 threw for 231
yards and another touchdown to lead Harvard. The Crimson also got
two long field goals from Patrick Long.
Chris Lorditch hauled in a 67-yard scoring strike from Pizzotti
early in the second and finished with four catches for 106 yards
for Harvard - which allowed just .59 yards of total offense,
including two rushing yards, in the second half.
Harvard's Last Time Out
Gino Gordon ran for 137 yards and a touchdown and Treavor
Scales ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns as Harvard outgained
Cornell, 251-62 on the ground in a 28-10 victory.
Collier Winters added a 15-yard touchdown as the Crimson ran for
four touchdowns for the first time since a 28-21 win over Dartmouth
on Oct. 27, 2007.
Freshman Brian Owusu had two interceptions - on the second and
third defensive downs of his career - and the Crimson allowed just
182 total yards.
Punter Thomas Hull pinned three punts inside Cornell's five yard
line and four different players recorded a sack for a second
consecutive game.
Lafayette's Last Time Out
Trailing Columbia 21-10 at halftime, Lafayette scored all
the points in the second half - 14 - including the final ones
thanks to an 88-yard drive in the final six minutes to score with
13 seconds left in a 24-21 victory. It was the second close win for
Lafayette over an Ivy League school - and third of the year thanks
to wins over Penn (20-17 in overtime) and Yale (31-14).
Maurice White had just 50 yards on the ground for Lafayette but
had two touchdowns and Rob Curley overcame three interceptions to
finish with 287 yards and a score on 23-for-39 passing.
Lafayette is off to a 4-1 start for a third-straight
season.
