CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Andre Akpan provided
all of the offense No. 6 Harvard needed, as the Crimson topped No.
15 Brown by a 1-0 margin Saturday afternoon at Ohiri Field. Austin
Harms made five saves to record his fifth shutout of the season, as
Harvard improves to 2-0-1 in conference play and 9-2-1 overall.
Harvard and Brown broke even after the first 45 minutes. Both teams
mustered six shots, with three on frame but neither squad could put
a one in the back of the net. Akpan got Harvard on the scoreboard
early in the second stanza, as he received a pass from Brian Rogers
in the box. Akpan spun and fired a bouncing shot that went through
Brown goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand's hands and into the net at
47:49. Harvard played the final 35 minutes of the contest down a
player, due to a red card, but did not allow any quality scoring
chances for the Bears.
The Crimson and Bears each fired 12 shots for the game, while Brown
led in corner kicks, 4-2.
