CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard women's
volleyball team downed Cornell, 3-0, Saturday afternoon to improve
to 10-11 overall and 6-4 in the Ivy League. The Crimson posted a
25-21, 25-17, 25-18 victory for its second straight win and sixth
in last eight matches. It's Harvard's first 3-0 win and series
sweep of the Big Red since 2002.
Junior Mikaelle Comrie recorded 10 kills to lead the Crimson.
Freshman Taylor Docter was second in kills with nine and also
served up three aces, collected four digs and posted four blocks,
including two solo. Senior Lily Durwood handed out 30 assists,
while sophomore Christine Wu and seniors Chelsea Ono Horn and
Katherine Kocurek controlled the defense. Wu registered 17 digs,
while Ono Horn posted 10 and Kocurek had nine.
Harvard held a 38-36 advantage in kills and 59-48 lead in digs
over the Big Red. The Crimson served up 10 aces, eight more than
Cornell and posted 8.5 blocks.
The Crimson hosts Brown and Yale in its final home contests of the
season next weekend. Harvard welcomes the Bulldogs Friday night and
the Bears Saturday afternoon.
