Kocurek Breaks Record as Harvard Falls to Yale, 3-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Harvard women's volleyball team dropped a close 3-2 decision to Yale Friday night; 25-20, 21-25, 17-25, 25-16, 17-19. The fifth set went back-and-forth between the two teams. Neither team could extend a lead past two points as the only two point lead in the frame was when the Bulldogs held an 11-9 advantage. In the set, Harvard fought off three match points while Yale battle back from two.

Senior Katherine Kocurek broke the program record for digs in a career in the first set by recording eight digs. She extended the record by adding 16 in the other four frames to finish the night with 24 total digs.

Junior Mikaelle Comrie paced the Crimson with 19 kills, while senior setter Lily Durwood dished out 56 assists. Defensively, sophomore Christine Wu chipped in wit 25 digs and sophomore Anne Carroll Ingersoll posted a career-high nine blocks on the night.

With the loss, Harvard falls to 10-12 overall and 6-5 in the Ivy League, while Yale improves to 18-3 overall and 8-2 in the conference. The Crimson returns to action tomorrow at 4 p.m. against  Brown in the final home match of the season.
