CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a second
consecutive Ivy League championship, Harvard has seen three of its
returning stars named to the 2009 Preseason All-America from
Consensus Draft Services (CDSdraft.com).
Senior wide receiver Matt Luft, senior
offensive lineman James Williams and senior cornerback Derrick
Barker have been named to the list.
Luft enters the season as one of
Harvard's all-time greats at the wideout position. He has
already logged 115 career receptions for 1,933 Yards and 12
touchdowns. His 16.8 yards-pre-reception average is tops on the
all-time list.
Williams, a Chestnut Hill, Mass. native, is
a two-time All-America selection on the offensive line from
numerous publications.
Barker enters his third season as a starter in a defensive
backfield that he been one of the nation's toughest since his
arrival. Last season, the Crimson ranked sixth nationally in pass
efficiency defense. Barker has 27 tackles last year and had 11
passes defended. In 2007 he led the Crimson in solo tackles.
