Story Line
Harvard begins Ivy League play Friday night against Dartmouth in
the second and final match of the Crimson's homestand.
Last Time Out
The Crimson defeated Holy Cross, 3-1, Tuesday night. Four Crimson
players recorded double-digit kills in Harvard's 25-19,
25-27, 27-25, 25-15 victory.
Mikaelle Comrie led the Crimson with 17 kills, followed by Taylor
Docter with 13, Sandra Lynne Fryhofer with 12 and Anne Carroll
Ingersoll with 11. Christine Wu was one of three Harvard players in
double figures in digs with 21. Chelsea Ono Horn and Katherine
Kocurek added 18 each. Lily Durwood handed out 49 assists. Docter
posted a career-high four blocks, while Ono Horn aced four
serves.
Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth heads into the weekend with a 4-6 record, the fourth
best mark in the league. The Big Green picked up a win over Central
Connecticut State in its own tournament last weekend. Dartmouth
also has wins over Providence College, Rhode Island and
Quinnipiac.
Madeline Baird paces the Big Green in kills with 3.33 per set.
Kendall Houston has a team-best 7.29 assists per set, while Amber
Bryant's 3.37 digs per set are a team best.
The Series
Harvard holds a 42-12 lead in the series which dates back to 1981.
The Crimson has won 11 of the last 15 contests, including both
matches in 2008.
Movin' On Up
Chelsea Ono Horn's four service aces on Tuesday moved her
into 10th all-time on the career aces list at Harvard. She has 75
career aces. She is nine away from moving into ninth.
Katherine Kocurek is just 13 digs away (12 to tie) from moving
into second on the all-time digs list. She has 1,280 career digs.
She need's 84 digs to take over the program record.
Lily Durwood is just 139 assists away from being the third Harvard
player to accumulate 3,000 handouts. She is third on the all-time
list with 2,861.
Among the League and Nation's Best
At the beginning of the week, Anne Carroll Ingersoll ranked second
in the Ivy League in hitting percentage with a .335 clip. She ranks
117th in the nation as well. Christine Wu is fourth in the league
and 20th in the nation in digs per set (5.03).
On the Horizon
The Crimson travels to Dartmouth Oct. 2 for first of three
contests away from the Malkin Athletic Center. First serve is
slated for 7 p.m. in Hanover.
