CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In six weekend
regattas, the Harvard sailing team garnered four top-10 finishes
including a fourth-place showing at the Harvard Invitational 2, a
sixth-place finish at the Richard B. Ross College Bowl and
seventh-place performances at the Danmark Trophy and the Central
Series Four. Harvard also competed in the third Midweek Tech
Regatta and the Smith Trophy.
At the 20 team Danmark Trophy intersectional, John Stokes,
Meghan Wareham and Marie Appel sailed to a second-place finish in
the B division, facilitated by seven top-three finishes, to pace
Harvard to a seventh-place overall finish. In the A division, Alan
Palmer and Tedd Himler split skipper duties while a trio of Crimson
sailors split crew duties sailing to a 10th-place finish in the
division.
Sophomore Ryan Byrne captured third at the third Midweek Tech
hosted by MIT and fifth in the A division at the Smith Trophy.
Sarah Pierson and Byrne sailed together in 14 races over both
events, while Isabel Ruane crewed four races with Byrne at the
Smith Trophy.
Nick Waldo and Jinyan Zang served as the Crimson's A-division
sailors at the Harvard Invitational 2. The pair finished fourth,
just four points behind Emmett Weeks and Lauren Krumeich who were
the top finishers in the division.
At the five-race Ross College Bowl, Colin Santangelo and Sam
Millham finished with 36 points, one ahead of Brown, to give the
Crimson a sixth overall finish.
Four freshmen were on the water for the Crimson's seventh-place
finish at the Central Series Four. Ben Lamont and Margaret Fulham
were paired in the A division while Ames Lyman and Alice Kenney
sailed together in the B division.
Harvard is scheduled to sail in the New England Men's
Singlehanded Championships at Yale and the Moody Trophy hosted by
Rhode Island this weekend.
