The No. 5 Harvard men's squash team lost its second match
in as many days on Sunday. No. 4 Rochester defeated the Crimson,
9-0, dropping Harvard to 3-2 on the season.
Rochester (5-0) is the first team in 2010-11 to sweep the
Crimson. Two of Harvard's players, Zeke Scherl and Nigel Koh,
did their best to break up the sweep, but succumbed to defeat in
five-game matches.
Scherl, competing in the No. 6 spot, won the first game and
forced an extremely close fifth after taking the fourth, but fell
to Juan Pablo Gavaria, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 9-11, 13-11.
Koh evened his No. 4 spot match against Will Newnham at one and
two games apiece before losing the deciding set. Newnham won the
match 11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7.
Three Yellowjackets won in three games while the other four
matches were all decided by 3-1 scores.
Harvard will next be in action after the New Year when it hosts
