No. 3 Men’s Squash Falls in National Championship Match

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Harvard men's squash team went toe-to-toe with the No. 1 Trinity Bantams this morning in the Potter Cup National Championship Match. The Crimson took an early lead in the match but could not hold on as Trinity claimed the National Title with a 5-3 result over Harvard. The team concluded the 2025-26 season as the National Runner-up, its highest placement since the 2023 season.
 

How it Happened

Harvard met its rival, the Trinity Bantams, on the court this morning at the Arlen Specter Squash Center in the Potter Cup National Championship Match. The Crimson and the bantams met on the courts for the second time this season to battle it out for the title and the trophy.
 
The Bantams were first on the board in the match, earning the win at the first pairing. Denis Gilevskiy took a game from his Trinity foe, but could not string it together with another, falling in the match, 3-1. Harvard fought back with two consecutive victories to conclude the first wave of matches. Jacob Lin fought back for the Crimson, earning a 3-1 win at seventh position. The junior started strong with wins in the first and second games, eventually closing out the victory with an 11-3 win in the fourth game. Christian Capella had yet another impressive win in the tournament with a 3-2 result in his match at fourth position. The first-year fell in the first two games of his match before rallying to win the final three games of the bout, closing out the win with a convincing 11-3 win in the fifth game.
 
Trinity began the second wave with a pair of 3-0 wins at the third and eighth positions to retake the lead. Maddox Moxham fought back, tying the score at 3-3 with a win at fives. The first-year won his battle, 3-1, in a tightly contested match to boost the Crimson back into the match.
 
The Bantams closed out the win in the final wave, posting a pair of victories at twos and nines to reach five points and clinch the match. Ishant Shah won the first game in his match at nines, but could not hold on as Trinity came away with the win to take the Potter Cup.
