SORRENTO, Fla. – The Harvard
women's golf team got its 2010 season off to a good start as
the Crimson defeated the Central Florida Golden Knights by 11 shots
at the Red Tail Golf Club, 303-314.
Harvard, the two-time defending Ivy League champions, had the
top three finishers in the dual meet with freshman Katie Sylvan
winning with a +1 round of 74. Christine Cho and Jane Lee finished
three shots behind in second while Claire Sheldon shot a 78 to
place fifth and Chloe Altchek shot a +9 81.
The course was 6,195 yards. All six competing Harvard players,
including Mia Kabasakalis and Sarah Harvey, recorded birdies on the
afternoon.
Valentina Fontaine led UCF with a +5 77.
Sylvan led the field with 15 pars and was one-under on the par 3
holes while Lee was the only golfer under par on the par 5's
thanks to an eagle.
