NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Jennifer
VanderMeulen scored five goals and classmate Danielle
Tetreault contributed three goals and an assist in a 17-13
loss to Yale, Saturday morning on the road. The Crimson (4-5,
1-3 Ivy) outscored the Bulldogs (5-6, 2-2 Ivy) in the second half
it wasn't enough to overcome a nine-goal first half deficit.
Senior co-captain Sara Flood and rookie Micaela Cyr added two
goals and Melanie Baskind put one in the net. Tetreault and Flood
lead the Crimson with three ground balls, while VanderMeulen won
three draw controls to pace the Crimson.
Yale scored three of the first four goals and then nine-straight
scores to move ahead 13-2 early in the second half. Four
consecutive Harvard goals cut the lead to 16-13 with 2:51 remaining
in the game, but that was as close as the Crimson would get.
Sophomore Kerry Clark played 51 minutes in the net, stopping
nine shots. She also had two ground balls.
Harvard heads to No. 4 Virginia for a Monday night game.
