HANOVER, N.H. – The Harvard women's volleyball team captured the second set against Dartmouth, but the Big Green took the next two to top the Crimson, 3-1, in Harvard's Ivy League opener. The loss puts the Crimson at 2-10 on the season while Dartmouth moves to 9-2 on the year.  

The Big Green got out to an early 9-3 lead and maintained that cushion through the first set. A kill by Kelsey Johnson sealed the opening set, 25-17, for the hosts. The second set stayed close early on, as neither team was able to get beyond one point ahead of the other, until Harvard took a 12-10 edge on a Big Green attack error. Back-to-back kills by Taylor Docter pushed the score to 23-20 in favor of the Crimson, and Harvard took the second set, 25-20, on a Dartmouth miscue.

In the third and fourth sets, Dartmouth jumped out to leads and the Crimson was unable to make up the gap. In the third set, Harvard got to within two points at 18-16 but three straight kills by Johnson propelled Dartmouth to a 25-16 set win. The Big Green closed out the match with a 25-11 win in the final stanza.  

Anne Carroll Ingersoll led the Crimson with nine kills on the match while Teresa Skelly and Mikaelle Comrie each added seven. Skelly and Ingersoll also added four blocks apiece in the loss. Madeline Baird led all hitters with 14 kills while Annie Villanueva (12), Elisa Scudder (11) and Johnson (11) all had double-digit kills.  

Harvard is back in action at New Hampshire Sept. 28 in a 7 p.m., game.
