NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2012-13 Harvard softball team
and 10 of its players have received NFCA All-America
Scholar-Athlete accolades, the organization announced Monday.
The Crimson compiled a team grade-point average of 3.425, good
for the 19th-highest GPA in the nation among the 105 Division I
teams listed. The team GPA ranked second among Ivy schools (Yale,
3.450) and third among northeast institutions. Alabama fronted all
Division I programs with a combined GPA of 3.690 on the season.
All four members of the class of 2013 received All-America
Scholar-Athlete recognition, fronted by Olivia Piccione, who was
second on the team with a 3.859 GPA. Kassy Shiotani (3.833),
Jessica Ferri (3.708) and Stephanie Regan (3.584) rounded out the
quartet of senior honorees. Alyssa Siegmann led all Harvard players
with a 3.906 GPA, and was joined by Andrea Del Conte, Emily Gusse,
Gabrielle Ruiz, Katherine Appelbe and Katherine Lantz on the
Scholar-Athlete list.
The individual award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a
member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher
during the 2012-13 academic year.
