CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was a special day for the
members of the Eastern Massachusetts Bill Koch ski club, as the
Harvard Nordic skiing team partnered with Olympian and US Ski Team
member Noah Hoffman to lead an instructional session Sunday at
Harvard Stadium.
Hoffman, who calls Aspen, Colo., home, spent time Sunday morning
with the EMBK members, talking about his experiences as a skier and
an Olympian, and offering various instructional tips to those in
attendance. Members of the Harvard Nordic ski team were also at the
event to offer assistance to help Hoffman in his instruction. The
EMBK serves skiers ages 7-13, and gives local kids the opportunity
to enjoy the sport of Nordic skiing.
The 2014 U.S. champion in the 50k distance classic race, Hoffman
represented the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in
Sochi, Russia. One of seven male members of the Nordic squad,
Hoffman finished 26th in a field of 66 in the men's 50k
distance classic race, the top US finisher in the competition.
The Harvard Nordic team had one of its best seasons in program
history in 2013-14, seeing a number of top-10 finishes from a
handful of different competitors. Junior Akeo Maifeld-Carucci and
seniors Chris Stock and Jen Rolfes all qualified for the NCAA
Championships, while Rolfes was named to the EISA All-Eastern ski
team thanks to a strong result at the regional championships.
