CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – New Hampshire quarterback Sean Goldrich and Merrimack quarterback Joe Capobianco have been awarded New England Football Writers' Gold Helmets after dominant offensive performances.
Goldrich, a junior from West Haven, Connecticut, completed 27 of 40 passes for 422 yards and four touchdowns as the Wildcats earned their first victory of the season over Lehigh. The 422 passing yards far exceeded his previous career high of 291, and the four touchdowns matched a personal best. A freshman from Oceanside, New York, Capobianco torched Pace for 416 yards and six touchdowns in a 75-2 victory to give the Warriors their first win of the year. The quarterback completed 23 of 34 passes, and threw for each touchdown in the first half, including deep scores of 70 and 59 yards. Capobiano set career highs in yards and touchdowns in the game.
