NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Harvard women's rugby defeated Yale today, 54-0, at the Yale Rugby Pitch for the team's first win of the season. Harvard bounced back from a 24-15 loss last week at home to Brown.
The Crimson was able to dominate the entire match, shutting out Yale for the second-striaght time. Harvard defeated Yale 84-0 when the two squads met last season.
Freshman Isabel Delaura wasted no time making an impact for the Crimson, scoring her first career try in her first game action this season.
Senior Taz Ramirez was solid all 80 minutes from the scrum-half position. She acted as the tactical lynch pin for Harvard on its way to 54 points, fifth most in team history.
Captain Brooke Kantor and senior Lencia Morales-Valenzuela were crucial in the Crimson's first win of the 2014 season. The pair's extraordinary work led to many key tackles, passes and runs, driving the engine behind Harvard's 54-point offensive outburst.
Harvard returns to Cumnock Field Saturday, Sept. 27 to take on Cornell at 11 a.m.
