Women's Rugby Breaks Scoring Record for the Second Time This Season in 132-5 Route at Penn

Harvard improved to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in Ivy Conference play (Gil Talbot).

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For the second time this season, the Harvard's women's rugby team broke the school scoring record, downing Penn on the road by a final tally of 132-5. The Crimson had previously broken the mark earlier this season in a 111-5 thumping of Yale on Sept. 19.

Virginia Miller notched the opening try just minutes into the game and the route was on from there. Sarah Lipson and Caitlin Weigel followed with back-to-back tries out off of scrums. Rachel Harkavy and Grace Chao each downed their first tries of the day early in the opening half, while Weigel downed her second score of the game shortly after.

Chao directed the game from the scrum half in the second frame, keeping Harvard's furious offense going as it continued its historic assault. Lipson opened the second half scoring with a line break, while Weigel notched another try by evading Penn's defense with a two-step move, powering through contact for the try. Genevieve Quirion, Harkavy and Weigel each added tries of their own to close out the 132-5 victory.

Akweley Okine, Harkavy and Miller each scored their first career tries for the Crimson.

The Crimson improve to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in Ivy conference play. Harvard will have a week off from action before returning to the pitch for the Ivy Tournament on Nov. 7.
