Women's Tennis Hosts Final Tournament of the Fall

The Crimson will host Boston University, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse (Harvard Communications).  

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis wraps up its fall schedule with its own Harvard Invitational from Nov. 6-8. The round robin will include Boston University, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse and be will broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network. Competition on Friday will begin at 12 p.m. with Harvard playing Pittsburgh on the courts at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday matchups will begin at 9:30 a.m. as Harvard takes on Syracuse and Sunday Harvard will face Boston University at 12:30 p.m. 

Last Time Out
Four Crimson competed at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional including Nikki Kallenberg, Annika Ringblom, June Lee and Erica Oosterhout. The quartet posted a 3-4 overall record where Kallenberg finished 2-1 after losing in the round of 16. Ringblom went 1-1 at the event while Lee and Oosterhout fell in their only matches of the tournament.

About Harvard
The Crimson has competed in four tournaments including the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional. Nikki Kallenberg and Annika Ringblom lead Harvard with a 10-2 and 9-3 records, respectively while Amanda Lin and Ringblom lead the Crimson with an undefeated 4-0 record in doubles play. Harvard boasts a 58-24 overall record, including a 38-13 record in singles play and 20-11 record in doubles.

Scouting Boston University
The Terriers have made their way through four tournaments as it travels to Cambridge for its final matchup of the fall season. Senior Johanna Hyoty reached the round of 32 in singles play and partnered with freshman Sabrina Faybyshev for two doubles victories at the ITA Northeast Regionals losing in a round of 16. 

Scouting Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh will compete in its fifth tournament this season, with the team combining for a 41-52 singles record and 20-26 doubles mark. Sophomore Callie Frey leads Pittsburgh at 8-6 overall. Lolade Ogungbesan and Amber Washington hold a 6-6 overall mark in doubles play while Audrey Ann Blakely and Gabriela Rezende have also hit .500 with 5-5 records. 

Scouting Syracuse
The Orange has had a successful fall season as Anna Shkudun won her bracket at the ITA Northeast Regionals and will compete in the ITA National Indoor Championship. Syracuse also had two other singles players finish in the final four in Valeria Salazar and Gabriella Knutson. Shkudun and Salazar, meanwhile, teamed up in doubles play to reach the championship match but lost to a duo Dartmouth. 

Back in Crimson
Sophomores Nikki Kallenberg, Annika Ringblom, Ellen Jang-Milsten, juniors June Lee and Danielle Mirda, and seniors Amy He and Amanda Lin return from the 2014-15 squad that went 7-12 overall. Kallenberg is currently ranked No. 98 by the ITA and Ringblom was named to the All-Ivy League second team in doubles a year ago, concluding the season after recording a 16-12 season with a partner, including 3-4 mark in Ivy League play.

Fresh Faces
Head Coach Traci Green added the eighth-best recruiting class in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. Erica Oosterhout, Sabrina Xiong, Isabel Jasper and Claire Spackman come to Harvard from around the world to make up Harvard's third consecutive top-ten class, and fifth in the past seven seasons.

On the Sidelines
Traci Green enters her ninth season at the helm for the Crimson. Under her guidance, Harvard won the program's 18th Ivy League title in 2009 with a 13-8 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark. Green owns a 114-103 overall record, including a 80-75 mark over the past nine seasons.
Aye Aye, Captain
Senior Amy He was chosen to be the team's captain for the 2015-16 academic year. He is the 53rd captain in program history.
