CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's rugby returns to action Saturday April 11, competing in the Sorenson Cup hosted by Brown. The host Bears and the Crimson are joined by Quinnipiac, Norwich and Army.

The Agenda
The Crimson will play one match against each opponent, Saturday afternoon, opening the day against Brown at 1 p.m. Harvard will than take on Army at 1:40 p.m., Quinnipiac at 2:40 p.m. and Norwich at 3:20 p.m.

The two teams with best records at the end of the day will face off in the championship match for a chance to lift the Sorenson Cup.

Harvard will be fielding one team in the Sorenson Cup featuring veterans Kaleigh Henry, Lydia Burns and Claire Collins with a mix of newcomers including Cheta Emba, Emily Tran and Deborah Montes.

Up Hill Battle
The Sorenson Cup features all varsity level teams, including three teams the Crimson has faced in the past.

Harvard and Brown faced off September 13, 2014, in the first-ever women's rugby match between two varsity Ivy League teams. The Bears eventually defeated the Crimson, 24-15, in front of a capacity crowd at Cumnock Field.

The Crimson and Norwich played multiple matches at the Crimson 7's tournament, March 28. In the championship match Harvard's Crimson team battled Norwich's top team, with the Cadets taking the match 29-5.

Harvard traveled to Quinnipiac last week, playing a trio of matches against the Bobcats in support of the Austin Hill Project charity. The Crimson kept it close in the first game, falling to the experienced varsity squad, 25-21. Cheta Emba was strong in the match scoring two early tries. The Crimson would go on to fall 28-0 in the second match and 40-5 in the third match.

This will mark the first time that Harvard and Army face off on the rugby pitch. The Black Knights' sevens schedule kicked off in early February at the USA Sevens Rugby Tournament in Las Vegas. Army made it to the quarterfinal match, but fell to the University of British Columbia, 24-19.

Up Next
The Crimson is back on the road next week, traveling to Princeton to compete in the Ivy 7's Ruby Championships, April 11.
