Women's Rugby Opens Regular Season With 23-17 Win at West Chester

Harvard defeated the Golden Rams on the road, 23-17 (Gil Talbot).

WEST CHESTER, Penn. - Harvard women's rugby opened its regular season with a 23-17 road win at West Chester. The opening day win marks the first time in program history Harvard started its regular season with a victory.

Haley Langan opened the game with a try to start the Crimson attack.

Ann-Marie Barrett folowed with another try and  Claire Collins scored Harvard's third try of the game to further Harvard's lead.

With Harvard holding a 15-12 edge, Mariah Turner notched another Crimson try to extend the Crimson lead, 20-12.

West Chester would not go down without a fight, scoring a try late in the game to make it a three-point contest again.

However, the Crimson capitalized on a penalty try and sealed the game, 23-17, over the Golden Rams.

Harvard will host Yale in its first Ivy League matchup of the season Sept. 19 at noon. The game can be seen live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
