Harvard split it's opening games against UPEI and Bowdoin (G. Talbot).
BRUNSWICK, Maine – Harvard's women's rugby squad split its doubleheader in round robin play at Bowdoin. Harvard fell 19-7 to the University of Prince Edward Island in the opener, and came back to defeat Bowdoin, 15-0, in the second game.
UPEI's Rebecca Chapman, Alysha Corrigan and Leah Corrigan all scored tries for the Panthers, while Amy Andrews had two successful conversions to build a UPEI lead in the day's first game.
Caitlin Weigel scored her first career try for Harvard's lone try of the match, but UPEI took the victory.
Harvard got off to a fast start against Bowdoin, scoring three first half tries and controlled possession for the majority of the half. Taciana Pereira, Claire Collins and Sarah Lipson all registered a try for the Crimson.
The three first half tries would prove to be all the Crimson needed, as it cruised to a 15-0 victory over the host.
Harvard will take the field again on Sept. 12 at West Chester at noon.
