No. 72 Women's Tennis Hosts No. 68 Portland

Women's tennis is ranked No. 72 for its first time this season (Zack Williamson).    

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 72 Harvard women's tennis team will compete in its third home match of the season against No. 68 Portland. The match will begin at noon in the Murr Center and will also be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network.

Last Time Out
The Crimson finished as the runner-up of the ECAC Division I Indoor Championship. Harvard faced three ranked teams throughout the tournament including No. 43 Princeton, No. 53 Brown, and No. 58 Columbia. The three-day event included a 4-2 victory over the Tigers, a 4-3 triumph over the Bears and a 4-2 loss in the championship match against the Lions. Amy He led the charge by posting an 3-0 singles record.

About Harvard
Nikki Kallenberg leads Harvard with a 12-4 record while teammates Erica Oosterhout and Amy He follow with 11-5 and 11-3 marks, respectively. Annika Ringblom wraps up the top four with a 9-6 record. Ringblom and Amanda Lin lead the Crimson with an undefeated 5-0 mark in doubles play. Harvard boasts an 84-59 overall record, going 57-37 in singles play and 27-22 in doubles.

In the Polls
Harvard was given a ranking of No. 72 after a successful weekend at the ECAC Division I Indoor Championship, upsetting No. 43 Princeton and No. 53 Brown, from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. This is its first ranking of the year.

In the Ranks
Harvard's doubles pairing of Amanda Lin and Annika Ringblom broke into the national rankings at No. 52, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Jan. 5. Nikki Kallenberg fell to No. 125 as of Jan. 5 after being ranked No. 98 in the preseason poll.

COOP Student-Athlete of the Week
Women's Tennis has been named to COOP Student-Athlete of the Week multiple times with Amy He being voted during week 10 and week 20. Annika Ringblom was selected during week three while Nikki Kallenberg and June Lee was chosen during week six and 19, respectively.

Back in Crimson

Sophomores Nikki Kallenberg, Annika Ringblom, Ellen Jang-Milsten, juniors June Lee and Danielle Mirda, and seniors Amy He and Amanda Lin return from the 2014-15 squad that went 7-12 overall. Kallenberg is currently ranked No. 98 by the ITA and Ringblom was named to the All-Ivy League second team in doubles a year ago, concluding the season after recording a 16-12 season with a partner, including 3-4 mark in Ivy League play.

Fresh Faces
Head Coach Traci Green added the eighth-best recruiting class in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. Erica Oosterhout, Sabrina Xiong, Isabel Jasper and Claire Spackman come to Harvard from around the world to make up Harvard's third consecutive top-ten class, and fifth in the past seven seasons. Oosterhout was ranked No. 8 in the top-10 Oracle/ITA Division I Women's National Newcomer/Freshmen Rankings.

On the Sidelines
Traci Green is in her ninth season at the helm for the Crimson. Under her guidance, Harvard won the program's 18th Ivy League title in 2009 with a 13-8 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark. Green owns a 114-104 overall record, including an 80-76 mark over the past nine seasons.  

Aye Aye, Captain
Senior Amy He was chosen to be the team's captain for the 2015-16 academic year. He is the 53rd captain in program history.  

Up Next
The Crimson will host Boston University (Feb. 19), No. 75 Maryland (Feb. 20) and Marist (Feb. 20) at the Murr Center. All three matches will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network.
