Women's Tennis Prepares for Home Matchups Against Boston University, Maryland and Marist

Oosterhout holds a 2-1 record against ranked opponents (Zack Williamson).    

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team takes on Boston University on Friday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m., Maryland and Marist on Saturday, Feb. 20 at noon and 5 p.m., respectively. The Murr Center will be the site for the contests and all matches will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network. 

Last Time Out
The Crimson fell to No. 68 Portland, 4-3, after a late comeback which included three singles wins. Annika Ringblom blanked Saroop Dhatt after sets of 6-0, 6-1. Amy He defeated Tatiana Grigoryan, 6-1, 6-2, while Sabrina Xiong topped Jelena Lazarevic after falling in the first set, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.

About Harvard
Amy He leads Harvard with a 12-3 record while teammates Nikki Kallenberg and Erica Oosterhout follow with 12-5 and 11-6 marks, respectively. Annika Ringblom wraps up the top four with a 10-6 record. Ringblom leads the Crimson with a 9-4 mark in doubles play. Harvard boasts an 88-64 overall record, going 60-40 in singles play and 28-24 in doubles.

In the Polls
Harvard was given a ranking of No. 72 by the ITA after a successful weekend at the ECAC Division I Indoor Championship where it upsest No. 43 Princeton and No. 53 Brown. This is the first ranking of the year for the Crimson.

Scouting Boston University
Boston University has recorded a 3-2 overall record since the start of the spring season, while tallying a 1-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Terriers have blanked Rhode Island and Navy with match scores of 7-0. Boston University has two players recording a 4-1 singles record, including Lauren Davis and Johanna Hyoty. Hyoty also leads the Terriers in doubles play with a 4-1 mark. 

Scouting Maryland
In the ITA Preseason Rankings, Maryland was ranked No. 66, its highest since 2012 and fell to No. 75 in the previous week. The Terrapins opened up the spring season with a 1-3 record, while Ekaterina Tour is Maryland's top singles player and is ranked No. 70. 

Scouting Marist
Marist holds a 1-2 overall record in the spring season with its only win coming against Saint Peter's, 7-0. Claire Schmitz leads the Red Foxes in singles play with a 2-1 mark.

COOP Student-Athlete of the Week
The Crimson has been named to COOP Student-Athlete of the Week multiple times with Amy He being voted during week three and week 20. Annika Ringblom was selected during week three while Nikki Kallenberg and June Lee was chosen during week six and 19, respectively.

Back in Crimson
Sophomores Nikki Kallenberg, Annika Ringblom, juniors June Lee and Danielle Mirda, and senior Amy He return from the 2014-15 squad that went 7-12 overall. Ringblom was named to the All-Ivy League second team in doubles a year ago, concluding the season after recording a 16-12 season with a partner, including 3-4 mark in Ivy League play.

Fresh Faces
Head Coach Traci Green added the eighth-best recruiting class in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. Erica Oosterhout, Sabrina Xiong, and Isabel Jasper come to Harvard from around the world to make up Harvard's third consecutive top-ten class, and fifth in the past seven seasons. Oosterhout was ranked No. 8 in the top-10 Oracle/ITA Division I Women's National Newcomer/Freshmen Rankings.

On the Sidelines
Traci Green is in her ninth season at the helm for the Crimson. Under her guidance, Harvard won the program's 18th Ivy League title in 2009 with a 13-8 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark. Green owns a 116-107 overall record, including an 82-79 mark over the past nine seasons.  

Aye Aye, Captain
Senior Amy He was chosen to be the team's captain for the 2015-16 academic year. He is the 53rd captain in program history.
