Radcliffe Lightweight Crew Sweeps Princeton, Reclaims Class of 1999 Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard-Radcliffe lightweight crew reclaimed the Class of 1999 Cup, sweeping Princeton Saturday afternoon on Lake Carnegie. The varsity eight, racing on calm waters with a light headwind, earned an early advantage and maintained it throughout the race to take the open water victory.

This marks the fourth Class of 1999 Cup for Radcliffe over the last five meetings. Radcliffe has also won 21 of 22 dual races.  The varsity eight crossed in 6:55.0, 17 seconds ahead of the Tigers (7:12.0).

The second varsity eight also breezed to an open water win, stopping the clock in 7:02.0. The Black and White fought off a charging Princeton in the middle of the race to claim a 10-second win.

In a light cross-headwind, the third varsity completed the sweep of Princeton. The Black and White knocked off the Tugers by over 12 seconds.  

Radcliffe will open its home slate next weekend against Georgetown. Racing starts at 7:12 a.m. and will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
