No. 58 Women's Tennis Continues Ivy League Play Traveling to No. 69 Yale, Hosting No. 72 Brown

This is the first time that all Ivy women's tennis teams have been ranked  (Zack Williamson).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 58 Harvard women's tennis team travels to No. 69 Yale on Friday, April 15 for a 2 p.m. start and host No. 72 Brown on Sunday, April 17 at 1p.m. The Crimson will also recognize its only senior in Amy He on Sunday. 

Last Time Out
Harvard split in its second weekend of Ivy League play, losing against No. 74 Penn, 4-3, but defeating No. 61 Princeton, 4-3. Nikki Kallenberg, Erica Oosterhout and Amy He were the only Crimson to record singles wins, tallying 2-0 records each. Doubles pairings of June Lee and Erica Oosterhout and Sabrina Xiong and Annika Ringblom defeated their opponents in assisting Harvard in its victory over the Tigers.

About Harvard
Amy He leads Harvard with a 23-5 singles record, while teammates Erica Oosterhout and Nikki Kallenberg follow with 20-10 and 20-11 marks, respectively. Annika Ringblom wraps up the top four with a 16-11 record, and leads the Crimson with a 16-9 mark in doubles play. Harvard's players boast a 146-103 combined record, going 104-63 in singles play and 42-40 in doubles.

In the Polls
After defeating Ivy opponent No. 61 Princeton, the Crimson improved to No. 58 after being down a week before at No. 63. 

With a five-match clean sweep March 13-20 including a victory over No. 24 Fresno State, the Crimson earned its fourth national ranking of the year, placing No. 54. 

Harvard broke into the poll at No. 72 on Feb. 10 by the ITA after a successful weekend at the ECAC Division I Indoor Championship where it upset No. 43 Princeton and No. 53 Brown. The inclusion marked the first ranking of the year for the Crimson.

No. 69 Yale holds an 8-10 overall record, and is tied for fifth in the Ivy League with a 2-2 mark. The Bulldogs' see two singles players in double-digit wins including Sherry Li boasting a 14-11 record and Tina Jiang sporting a 10-14 mark.

No. 72 Brown is tied for sixth in the Ivy League with Harvard and Dartmouth at a 1-3 mark, and has a 13-9 overall record. The Bears have five singles players in double-digit wins including Alyza Benotto (22-7), Katie Ta (19-10), Dayna Lord (19-11), Maddie Stearns (16-12), and Hannah Camhi (16-14). Benotto and Lord lead the doubles action with a 21-7 mark.

Clean Sweeps
Harvard has tallied 11 victories in 2016, three of them coming in shutout fashion. Harvard blanked Marist, 4-0, in the second match of a doubleheader Feb. 20 and picked up a pair of 7-0 decisions March 13 over Providence and Rhode Island.

Individuals vs. Ranked Opponents
Erica Oosterhout leads the Crimson against ranked opponents with a 2-1 record, while Nikki Kallenberg and June Lee follow with 1-1 and 1-3 marks, respectively. Overall, Harvard is 4-6 against ranked challengers.

COOP Student-Athlete of the Week
The Crimson has been named to COOP Student-Athlete of the Week multiple times with Amy He being voted during week three and week 20. Annika Ringblom was selected during week three while Nikki Kallenberg and June Lee was chosen during week six and 19, respectively. Most recently, Erica Oosterhout was voted as COOP Student-Athlete of the Week during week 29.

Fresh Faces
Head Coach Traci Green added the eighth-best recruiting class in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. Erica Oosterhout, Sabrina Xiong, and Isabel Jasper come to Harvard from around the world to make up Harvard's third consecutive top-ten class, and fifth in the past seven seasons. Oosterhout was ranked No. 8 in the top-10 Oracle/ITA Division I Women's National Newcomer/Freshmen Rankings.

On the Sidelines
Traci Green is in her ninth season at the helm for the Crimson. Under her guidance, Harvard won the program's 18th Ivy League title in 2009 with a 13-8 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark. Green owns a 125-112 overall record, including a 91-84 mark over the past nine seasons.  

Aye Aye, Captain
Senior Amy He was chosen to be the team's captain for the 2015-16 academic year. He is the 53rd captain in program history.
