CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 17 Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew finished action at the Clemson Invitational Sunday morning at Lake Hartwell. The varsity eight wrapped competition with a third-place finish in the final session.
No. 4 Ohio State clocked a time of 6:34.7 in the heat, followed by No. 14 Washington State (6:41.8). The Black and White posted its best placement of the weekend with a time of 6:45.1.
Saturday, the varsity eight went up against three ranked teams, clocking a time of 6:55.2. The Black and White finished fifth overall, nearly a length behind San Diego. No. 8 Texas won the heat with a time of 6:44.3. Radcliffe posted a third-place finish in the second session, finishing just one seat off UCLA's pace (6:30.1) with a time of 6:30.5. Indiana won the event with a time of 6:29.0.
Radcliffe's second varsity was one second behind Louisville on the final day, ranking fourth with a time of 7:01.7. On day one, the 2V matched that placement in the first race with a time of 7:10.3. Michigan won the event in 6:55.3, followed by Texas and Syracuse. The Black and White finished three seats ahead of Oregon State (7:11.6). In the second session of the day, Radcliffe clocked a faster time at 6:41.3, placing sixth overall.
The Black and White posted a second-place finish for the third time on the weekend, trailing Ohio State by just 0.5 of a second. Radcliffe's varsity four also tallied the best result of day one, clocking a time of 7:47.0 in the first session to finish second. Michigan won the race in 7:44.7. The Black and White crossed one seat ahead of Texas (7:47.3) and Syracuse ranked fourth in the event. The V4 again placed second in the afternoon, posting a time of 7:20.4, just 2.4 seconds off the Orange pace.
Radcliffe finishes the regular season with a dual meet at Yale next weekend.
