CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard-Radcliffe lightweight crew varsity and second varsity boats each won the petite final at the Lightweight Invitational Sunday morning.
On a perfect day for racing with a slight tailwind, the 2V started off the day in a heat against Wisconsin. The two boats posted the fastest times of the preliminary races, as the Badgers nipped the Black and White by five 5.4 seconds. Radcliffe stopped the clock in 7:03.8 to advance to the petite final.
In the petite final, the second varsity walked over MIT, posting a 30-second win with a time of 6:54.7.
The varsity eight narrowly missed the grand final with a time of 6:54.3 in the heat. Stanford won the race with a time of 6:49.5 and BU won the other heat to advance to the GF. Wisconsin edged out Radcliffe by two seconds to earn the third spot.
In the petite final, the varsity eight posted a time of 6:42.2, holding an open-water advantage over MIT.
Radcliffe will be back on the Charles next weekend for the Muri Cup/Beanpot.
