Radcliffe Lightweight Crew Falls in Beanpot, Retains Muri Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard-Radcliffe lightweight crew team could not overcome No. 2 Boston University, losing the Beanpot for the first time Saturday morning, but retaining the Muri Cup over No. 5 MIT on the Charles River.

The Terriers pulled out to a seven-seat lead early and would hold on to the margin to cross in 6:48.1. Radcliffe stopped the clock three seconds later to come in second. MIT was open water behind in 7:14.1.

BU also bested Radcliffe, this time by open water, in the second varsity race. The Terriers clocked a time of 7:12.1, while the Black and White finished in 7:22.4. MIT crossed the finish line 30-plus seconds later in 7:57.8.

Radcliffe was outpaced in the third varsity event. The Black and White took down MIT in the novice four race.

Radcliffe will be back in action at the Eastern Sprints Championships Sunday in Worcester, Massachusetts.
